I am Barbara "Bart" Davidson, team representative from Stickin' Around - WHAM hockey team at the C3 level. We are a novice hockey team that is designed for beginning players. We are in need of several skaters and a goalie for the upcoming season and hope you may know of women who might be interested in playing.

We are a fun group of players who have been together for two years and are looking for additional players who enjoy hockey and camaraderie on and off the ice. Our home ice is at Richfield, with most ice times on Sunday afternoons. We do have some practices scheduled in September on Saturday afternoons. We have a new coach with extensive experience and he is excited about moving our team forward for the season.

Helping One of Our Own

From the WHAM website (scroll down a little):

On Sunday, October 23, 2005, Michelle (Missy) Reichert of the WHAM  C2 team Jets team was seriously injured in an automobile accident. She suffered head trauma which resulted in a coma and left her with a very small chance of survival. Fortunately in the days following the accident she has made steady progress and the odds are increasingly in her favor. Regrettably her recovery will be long and she will be faced with even more challenges. Missy’s employment with the state does not cover short or long term disability and has left Missy and her family with the added burden of long term financial effects from this accident.

Last Monday, WCCO did a follow-up story on Missy in which they revisited a previous piece regarding Missy’s offer and subsequent donation of a kidney to a little girl whom she had never met. The family, upon learning of Missy’s accident, sent the Grandfather from Israel to Minnesota to show their support during her time of need. You can see the segment by following this link: http://wcco.com/video/?id=11673@wcco.dayport.com

The Jets are planning a fundraiser for Missy on Saturday, December 3rd from 3-5 at Mad Jack’s (formerly the old Bench Warmer Bob’s) in Brooklyn Park. There will be a $5 cover and free beer with the proceeds going to help cover medical expenses.
